B. nodosa grandiflora

Brassavola (bra-SAH-vol-ah), abbreviated B., is a genus of 21 orchids, named in 1813 by the Scottish botanist Robert Brown. The name comes from the Italian nobleman and physician Antonio Musa Brassavola. The orchid in the image is the grandiflora form of B. nodosa, which is known for its exceptionally strong fragrance that is emitted primarily after dark to attract night-pollinating moths.
