1. Call to Order: Call to order by President Mike Friday at 1:00 pm.

2.  Member Attendance and Guest Introduction: There were 25 members present at this month’s meeting.

3. Treasurer’s Report: Barbara Alexander reported there is a total of $44,435.76 in the OOS accounts for February, 2026. Members may view details on the OOS website of each month’s financial statements. The report was unanimously approved by members.

4. Approval of Minutes: The February 2026 minutes were unanimously approved by members.

5. Committee Chair Reports:

  • Membership – Kaden Milbern, Chair: No report this month.
  • Programming – John Spencer, Chair: No report this month
  • Conservation– Mike Friday, Chair: Mike Friday received a thank you from SWROGA conservation chair, Charles Hess, thanking the Society for the $100.00 donation. The money will be put toward student scholarships
  • Website – Doug Needham, Chair: No report.

6. Affiliate Reports:

  • Great Plains Judging Center – Catherine Chance and Jana Butcher: Jana Butcher reported the judging would resume next week for GPJC, however both Catherine and Jana will be judging elsewhere and will not attend the March judging.
  • AOS Representative – Gerry Holland: No report this month.
  • SWROGA – Jana Butcher, Bill Parker and Catherine Chance: Jana Butcher reported this year’s SWROGA show will be the Tulsa Orchid Society Show, held the weekend of May 16th, 2026. If you are interested in participating in the show, sending orchids for judging, or helping set up the OOS exhibit please contact Jana Butcher.
  • Orchid Digest Representative – Bill Parker: No report.
  • Oklahoma City Council of Garden Clubs – Jana Butcher: Jana Butcher reminded members of the Oklahoma Garden Club Annual Convention, March 26 – 27 at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Oklahoma City Airport. All are welcome to attend. Volunteers are needed for the April 4th “Easter on the Green” event. Volunteers please arrive at 8:30am.

8. New Business:

  • Trudy Dintzner inquired if shirts, similar to the style purchased last year, could be purchased for new members. Barbara Alexander checked cost of the shirts and reported they would be around $50.00 due to the small number of individuals ordering shirts. While discussing possible alternatives, Bridget Andoe and Marinel Kelley suggested a printing service and will meet with them to obtain prices for next meeting. Mike Friday will send an email out to the group requesting sizes for those interested.
  • John Spencer would like members to submit nice quality images of members’ orchids for social media content. Please consider submitting pics to help make our future OOS social medial footprint larger.

10. Program/Presentation – – John Spencer introduced this month’s speaker, Melissa McCormick, Ph.D. from the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center who gave a talk over “Conserving Our Native Orchid Heritage”. Thank you for the insightful presentation!

11. Show and Tell Table – There were several members who brought in beautiful orchids to share today. Thank you to those who showed their plants and described their culture.

12. Auction and Raffle – Barbara Alexander drew raffle tickets for chances to win plants donated by OOS members. Thank you to everyone who brought a plant or other items for the raffle!

13. Meeting Adjourned – John Spencer adjourned the monthly meeting at 2:53 pm.
