1. Call to Order: Call to order by Vice-President John Spencer at 1:08 pm.

2.  Member Attendance and Guest Introduction: Number of members present: 17 members total. Welcome all to this month’s meeting!

3. Treasurer’s Report: As the Treasurer’s position transitions from Catherine Chance to Barbara Alexander, members were directed to the website to view October’s financial statements. A motion to approve October’s treasurer report was made by Doug Needham and seconded by Trudy Dintzner. The report was unanimously approved by members.

4. Approval of Minutes: A motion to accept the September 2025 meeting minutes was made by Bill Parker and seconded by Doug Needham. The October 2025 minutes were unanimously approved by members.

5. Committee Chair Reports:

  • Membership – Kaden Milbern, Chair: No report this month.
  • Programming – John Spencer, Chair: John Spencer reminded all of the Christmas party at Johnita Turner’s home, December 6th, 4pm – 6pm.
  • Conservation– Mike Friday, Chair: No report.
  • Website – Doug Needham, Chair: No report.

6. Affiliate Reports:

  • Great Plains Judging Center – Catherine Chance and Jana Butcher: Catherine Chance reported that sixteen plants were evaluated and five received awards.
  • AOS Representative – Gerry Holland: Jan Butcher reported this month. AOS will publish an article by Doug Needham in an upcoming issue. The article will cover greenhouse design. The Girl Scout year-long orchid care project, overseen by members Jana Butcher, Bridget Andoe and Marinel Kelley, will also be featured in an future issue of the journal. Congratulations!
  • SWROGA – Jana Butcher, Bill Parker and Catherine Chance: No report this month.
  • Orchid Digest Representative – Bill Parker: No report this month.
  • Oklahoma City Council of Garden Clubs – Jana Butcher: Jana Butcher informed members of the 2nd Annual Christmas Flower Show sponsored by the Garden Council. The show will be held on December 6th, 2025 at Will Rogers Gardens Exhibition Center from 1:00pm – 5:00pm. During this year’s show Jana Butcher will give a free class on floral design. November 22, 8:00am – 10:00am Jana Butcher will present the timely topic of orchid gifting. Thank you for volunteering your time , Jana!

7. Old Business:

  • The nominees for 2026 Oklahoma Orchid Society slate of officers, selected during the October 2025 monthly meeting were brought forward for election. No discussion was brought forth from members and Bill Parker moved to accept the nominees as the 2026 slate of officer. Members unanimously approved the motion to accept the slate of 2026 OOS officers. Congratulations to everyone!

10. Program/Presentation – – John Spencer introduced this month’s speaker, OOS member Dr. Doug Needham, who gave an informative talk on the probable orchid viruses seen by orchid growers and ways of identifying whether an orchid is infected. Thank you for a great presentation!

11. Show and Tell Table – The most beautiful orchids were brought in by members to share during today’s meeting. Thank you to those who showed their plants and described their culture.

12. Auction and Raffle – Catherine Chance led an amazing raffle of plants donated by OOS members. Thank you to everyone who brought a plant or other items for the raffle!

13. Meeting Adjourned – Mike Friday adjourned the July monthly meeting at 3:02 pm.
