Through generous gifts from the Red River Orchid Society of Wichita Falls, Texas, and others in memory of Jackie Parker and Catherine Porter, and in fulfillment of its mission “to educate and foster the appreciation of orchids and their culture,” Oklahoma Orchid Society is pleased to offer a $2,000 scholarship to a student studying horticulture at a US college or university.
Qualified applicants must…
- be an Oklahoma or Texas resident, but may attend a college or university anywhere in the United States.
- be an undergraduate student of at least Sophomore standing or a graduate student.
- be enrolled in credit hours as a full-time student majoring in horticulture.
- have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Consideration for scholarship opens March 1 of each year with a May 1 deadline for receipt of all scholarship application materials. Qualified applicants must complete the Oklahoma Orchid Society Horticulture Scholarship Application and submit it and all other required items electronically by May 1 to the OOS Scholarship Chair.
The scholarship recipient will receive verbal and written notification of the scholarship by July 1, and the recipient will receive an award certificate at the August OOS meeting. The scholarship money will be paid by check directly to the student’s Bursar’s Office to be applied toward tuition and basic fees.
