Whether you are looking to purchase your first orchid or to grow an existing collection, beautiful orchids are readily available locally and online from national and international orchid growers. Thanks to the popularity and ease of culture of Phalaenopsis orchids, they are one of the easiest to find at local garden centers, grocers, florists, and home improvement stores; however, frequently they are of unnamed varieties. If you are interested in exhibiting orchids and entering them for AOS judging, be sure to purchase named varieties from reputable growers.
OOS monthly meetings, where members donate orchids for the raffle table and plant auction, are a great opportunity to begin or grow your collection at a low cost and meet other orchid enthusiasts! OOS Shows & Sales are another great event to see and purchase beautiful orchids!
Although OOS offers no endorsement, some respected growers and suppliers frequented by our Society’s members are listed below alphabetically with notes about their specialty.

Banner Image Fun Fact
Among the many orchids on the display bench at Orchids by Hausermann are members of Laeliinae (lay-lee-EE-nee), a subtribe of orchids that includes approximately 40 genera, such as Brassavola, Laelia, and Cattleya, from which many intergeneric hybrids are made. For example, the nothogenus ×Brassolaeliocattleya (brass-oh-lay-lee-oh-KAT-lee-ah), which is abbreviated Blc., is a tri-generic hybrid among Brassavola, Laelia, and Cattleya.
