OOS members love to bring their beautiful orchids to the monthly meeting’s “show table” and share with others their cultural techniques for growing such specimens. OOS Meetings provide the perfect opportunity to do that!

Paph. Dollgoldi
Paph. Memoria Glenn Gardner
Miltonia spectabilis var. moreliana ‘Romeo’

OOS member Douglas showed two of his warm-growing PaphiopedilumsPaph. Dollgoldi and Paph. Memoria Glenn Gardner, which he got from Paph Paradise earlier this year. Both are multi-floral and have Paph. rothschildianum in their parentage. As such, Douglas grows them in brighter light (bright diffuse–light shade) than he grows his other Paphiopedilums. He loves the spectacular size and color of the flowers.
Additionally, he showed Miltonia spectabilis var. moreliana ‘Romeo’, which is got from Orchids Limited in 2019. The flowers are deliciously fragrant, smelling of black licorice! Douglas grows the orchid under bright–bright diffuse light in his warm glasshouse (summer days in the mid- to upper 80s and nights in the mid- to lower 70s).

OOS member Keith shows his Odontocidium and talks about his challenging orchid growing environment.
OOS member Keith showed an Intergeneric oncidium. He said the name tag broke and he only knows that it is an Odontocidium.
