OOS members love to bring their beautiful orchids to the monthly meeting’s “show table” and share with others their cultural techniques for growing such specimens. OOS Meetings provide the perfect opportunity to do that!

Cattleya Irene Finney (1964) ’Spring’s Best’ AM/AOS

OOS member Douglas showed Cattleya Irene Finney (1964) ’Spring’s Best’ AM/AOS, which he purchased from Orchids by Hausermann in February 2019. The plant is displaying five inflorescences with three flowers each, totaling 15 massive (6.5”), fragrant blooms. He grows the orchid in a 12” bulb pan in his warm glasshouse (60°F nights and 80°F days). An interesting note: this Cattleya was bred and registered by Hausermann in 1964 and named after the business’s founder’s (Carl Hausermann’s) only daughter, Irene Finney.
